We all could use a little light-heartedness lately, so I give to you: Things my 3-year-old has said recently …
Will and I like to sing little pieces of songs throughout the day out loud – whatever gets stuck in our heads. Actually, Will does this and has done this for years and I have slowly but surely taken the bait and begun to turn into him. Anyways, our listening tastes are not always G-rated and Gia’s interpretation of the lyrics are always entertaining. We recently heard her singing to herself “Fresher than a mommy truck”. I will give you one guess as to what “mommy truck” translates into …
Deciding what to get Gam Gam for her birthday: “I want to get her a book and shoes and OF COURSE most importantly beads for me.” #OFCOURSE #mostimportantly
Trying to get us to look at her dress for the millionth time that day: “Look at my dress!!! (sighs) I’m just going to go away. You’re not interesting in me.”
On dreams: “Mommy dreams about frosting, I dream about slippers, and daddy dreams about coffee.” #accurate
Looking at the lunch I made her: “That is not impressed, mommy.” #iknow
To me, randomly: “Everyone likes you except me. [pause] I love you!” #awwww #ithink
Smelling the new Scentsy testers: “Mmmmmm!! Makes my nose want to bleed!” #newmarketingcampaign
Playing with her doll’s hair with Gam Gam: “Gam Gam this doll has face all over her!”
Our son is often EXTREMELY distractible when nursing lately, and thus we have created “rules” for when I am nursing him and Gia is in the room. One night she turned to him at bedtime and said “Its ok Eli, I’m not going to extract you.”
We taught Gia how to have a “staring contest”. One night at dinner she turned to me and said “Mommy, can you do a face concert with daddy?” Took us a minute to figure out what she meant #soundskinky
One morning when I went in her room to wake her up: “Mommy … you smell … pretty terrible!” #andshesmelledlikeroses
On her hunger: “I just need to eat some bread and then I’ll come back to life.” #amensister #carbloverforlife
Talking about a little boy in her preschool class and if she would like it if he talked to her: “I can’t talk about this right now mom, I’m reading this note.” As she picked up a book and started moving her finger across the words like she was reading. #threenager
Playing with her doll who was “crying”: “Shhhh baby its ok, there’s another boob, there’s another boob.” #boobsfixeverything
Throwing a tantrum because I wouldn’t give her a treat for lunch: “I just want tears for lunch now.” #tourturedsoul
Gia now likes to make up her own songs. They are immensely entertaining. A recent piece was titled “Mummy’s on a bagel, looking at the floor.” #whatintheactualF
Gia laying down with her eyes closed: “I’m dreaming. About my life. It’s a scary story.” #same
When we moved into our new house, one day our smoke detector started chirping. When Gia talked about it later she asked daddy if that sound was “the smoked potatoes.”
The other night at bedtime she started in on the rapid fire questioning designed to hold you hostage in her room. The conversation evolved into her asking
G: What do I get to do when I’m an adult?
Me: What do you want to do?
G: (whispering) Eat cheese Danish ….
